(A Periodical of Bharati Vidyapeeth)
Vichar Bharati is a quarterly house journal, which Bharati Vidyapeeth has been publishing for last 34 years. The first issue was published in January 1976 and since then its publication has continued without any interruption.
Vichar Bharati is something more than the house journal of Bharati Vidyapeeth. The issues of Vichar Bharati also include, beside periodical reports of the activities of Bharati Vidyapeeth and its branches, serious articles of eminent writers, thinkers and others. The list of its illustrious contributors so far includes such eminent thinkers as Shri V.S. Page, Dr. G.S. Khair, Dr. M.R Mangudkar, Shri Balasaheb Bharde, Dr. Shankarrao Kharat, Prof. G.P Pradhan, Dr. Anand Yadav, Dr. Sarojini Babar and others. Vichar Bharati so far has brought out special issues on many contemporary and important themes such as folk arts, Ayurved, drug addiction etc.
Bharati Vidyapeeth occasionally publishes books on important subjects. This activity was started in 1975 with the publication of Marathi version of "Sugarcane Industry in Maharashtra'', written by Shri Yashwantrao Mohite, a well-known thinker in Maharashtra, and the President of Bharati Vidyapeeth. It was originally published by the Government of Maharashtra in English. In all 60,000 copies of Marathi version of this book were sold out within a very short time and the revenue generated by this activity was of great help for the construction of the building for Shankarrao More Vidyalaya, the first educational unit that was started by Bharati Vidyapeeth. Besides. Bharati Vidyapeeth has published a few more books, to mention a few, a biography of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, and 'Petlele Partantrya Va Dhumaste Swantantrya', a collection of lectures delivered by Shri Yashwantrao Mohite.
Bharati Vidyapeeth has sponsored publication of "Stri Sahityacha Magova" (3 volumes). This important work contains collection of articles of women writers in Maharashtra published between 1850-1950. This voluminous work received a very warm welcome from the circles of women activists and litterateurs and has won a number of awards. It has tremendous value as a reference work.
Besides, Bharati Vidyapeeth gives generous financial assistance for the publication of books of writers in different spheres, which have social relevance.
Bharati Vidyapeeth has contributed significantly for the promotion and protection of interests of deprived sections of population. The sense of social commitment of Dr. Patangrao Kadam is reflected in the institutions which he has started and in their activities. Bharati Vidyapeeth stands for:
Maharashtra has nourished over the last ten decades or so a very sound tradition of co-operative endeavours for self and community development. Thousands of co-operative units, be it a cooperative credit society, a sugar factory or a spinning mill have contributed significantly to the economic development of Maharashtra.
Realizing the crucial role the co¬operative units can play in mobilizing, bringing together and channelising the developmental potentials at the grass root levels, Dr. Kadam has established quite a few cooperative units. He has nourished them with utmost care and strict administrative discipline and so they are cited as success stories. He got inspiration from such stalwarts in the co-operative movement such as Dr. D.R.Gadgil, Padmashri Vikhe Patil, Padmashri Vasantdada Patil and others.

The founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth, Dr. Patangrao Kadam in his childhood had to experience numerous difficulties for his education and so he strongly feels that education at all levels should be easily accessible to who so ever wants it.
So along with the institutions of higher and professional education, Bharati Vidyapeeth also runs schools, imparting education at Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary levels both in English and Marathi languages. Most of these schools are located in the rural areas. In line with the vision of empowering women through education, Bharati Vidyapeeth also runs separate schools for girl children.
All the schools of Bharati Vidyapeeth have their own buildings with excellent infrastructural facilities. Their academic performance is laudable. The percentage of successful candidates of these schools at H.S.C. / S.S.C. examinations is usually up to 90%. Quite a few of them even go beyond 90%, up to 95% to 100%. Many of the schools have received awards, sponsored by different organizations for academic excellence, social work done in the area of environment, for achievements in sports, elocution, cleanliness and other activities.
It has been the policy of Bharati Vidyapeeth to provide to the schools in the rural areas, infrastructural and other facilities of the same quality as are available to those in urban areas. One of the indicators of the excellence which Bharati Vidyapeeth has achieved in the management of educational institutions is that, in the recent years, quite a few other managements of High Schools have approached the authorities of Bharati Vidyapeeth with requests to take over their schools under the umbrella of Bharati Vidyapeeth.
Some of the schools of Bharati Vidyapeeth need a special mention because of their certain distinguishing features.
God's Valley International School is an English Medium Residential Public School situated in picturesque natural environment at Panchgani, which is described as the "queen of hill stations in Maharashtra". At the school care is taken to develop the student, not only as a scholar but, as a responsible citizen. The School attracts students from all the parts of India because of the high quality education it imparts. Special arrangements are made to provide medical services, both on regular basis, as well as in emergency, situation to the students.
One of the proclaimed missions of Bharati Vidyapeeth is to provide excellent education at affordable costs to the students of deprived sections of population. The Founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth Dr. Patangrao Kadm insists that the tribal children must get the same quality education, as children in urban areas.
Keeping this objective in view, Bharati Vidyapeeth has established and runs the following schools in Jawahar and Vikramgadh, in the tribal belt of Thane district:
These schools are housed in spacious buildings of their own and are provided with hostel facilities. In some of them, the medium of instruction is English. It is gratifying to note that a large number of tribal children are taking advantage of the educational facilities, provided by Bharati Vidyapeeth.
Similar to these schools, is our School at Bandarkatha, (Dist. Raigad). This School was originally started by a local organization. It is situated in a remote and not so easily accessible part of the Konkan region. On the request of the original management of the School, Bharati Vidyapeeth took over the School under its umbrella and within a period of two years or so, it has given it not only stability, but generated in it all the potential to become a good school. Soon after the take over, Bharati Vidyapeeth has constructed a spacious building for this School.
It is a matter of immense pleasure for me to be a part of the Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) family as its Vice Chancellor. I take this opportunity of welcoming students coming from all parts of the world, joining the university in undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes. Most of such students have moved away from the folds of their family and nation to another in their quest of knowledge. One needs to feel that they are just moving away from one family fold to another. Their teachers, seniors and peers, all form an extended family from whom they can look up for any guidance, support and help to move ahead in life as professionals in the study programmes they have opted.
In terms of credentials, the university has a long history of achievements. The most recent being the review by the University Grants Commission (2017), accreditation of the university by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with highest A+ Grade (2017) and ranking of the university among the best universities of the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) (2017).
This course places a special emphasis on the practical aspects of this industry. Therefore, students are trained in types of cameras, lighting (artificial and natural), portraiture, make-up and hair styling while also interacting with professionals like fashion designers, photo editors, art directors and others. Vital other skills like post-production techniques and business practices and ethics are also taught.
Candidates who have passed the HSC or equivalent exam from any stream Science, Commerce & Arts or working professional above 18 years of age will be considered eligible for the admission.
Another unique and much-needed course, this is an intensive program designed to train students in the newest industry-endorsed techniques in documenting, restoration and archiving.
Candidates who have passed the HSC or equivalent exam from any stream Science, Commerce & Arts will be considered eligible for the admission.
Photojournalism is as much about culture as it is about craft, which is why students are taught about the historical and cultural forces that have shaped this genre as well as the technical and aesthetic principles that guide its photographers.
